As an AI Support and Integration Specialist, you will collaborate with SBDC staff and partners to enhance the use of AI in solving real-world business challenges. This role supports various SBDC programs by helping to integrate AI solutions that improve business processes, customer service, and overall operational efficiency.

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is seeking a motivated and innovative AI Support and Integration Specialist to join our AI Resource Program. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of small businesses across Alaska by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge AI tools and technologies.

The ideal candidate for this position should hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Technology, along with at least two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Practical expertise with AI tools and platforms, particularly ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs), is essential. Experience with APIs for AI service integration and custom solution development is preferred but not required. Familiarity with small business or healthcare operations is beneficial. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to diverse audiences, as well as experience in conducting training and information sessions. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities are crucial, enabling the candidate to evaluate AI solutions to align with business objectives and identify strategic applications. Foundational knowledge of AI and machine learning technologies is essential, alongside a working understanding of LLMs for developing and integrating AI tools tailored to business needs. The candidate should be proficient in supporting AI platforms, troubleshooting issues, ensuring operational reliability, and maintaining system security. Additionally, strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to translate business needs into effective AI solutions. Proficiency in data gathering, documentation, and analysis to support AI project outcomes is necessary, along with organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential qualities for success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology, Computer Science, etc.) and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary andfull employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on theUA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
