DNF at 56%
I don’t mind dark MC but this one was awful and clueless.
Brings home bleeding and abused girl after they travelled for the whole day. Oh yeah, saved her from execution cause she is underage. (We will come back to that in a minute) and makes her go work, separates and keeps her from her best friend, and then gets upset that she is not keeping up.
Proceeds to be a complete ass to her without having conversation with her or explaining anything to her.
Makes her undress in front of him repeatedly and then makes her sleep in his bed(underage remember) and then gets all weird when she is freaking out and telling her to stop it. All while she is bleeding from injuries and had multiple broken ribs and broken face. And he is upset she is late to bring him supper.
What in the effin hell is this?

Ivy and Kyson. Oh my! I loved the authors writing style and the characters. Ivy is the damaged and abused outcast who grew up in an orphanage with her BFF. Both were taught they were worthless and experienced horrendous abuse. The Lycan King runs across her while visiting her town and ends up saving both Ivy and the BFF. It is clear Ivy and Kyson are mates unbeknownst to Ivy. Once she transitions to a werewolf on her 18th bday she will realize it.

The reader watches as Kyson restores a sense of belonging and love to Ivy. She is timid and feels unworthy of his affection yet she cannot fight the pull and her own reactions to him. I love how she burrows in his scent. I love how she bites him. I love how clueless and pliant she is. I love how dominating and possessive Kyson is. I simply love their relationship.

Then shit hits the fan at the 90% mark. Orphaned Ivy is thought to be the daughter of the woman who murdered his pregnant sister. The rage and hate is directed at poor Ivy and her soul is crushed as the Lycan King sends her to the stables, banning her from the castle. I suspect she's not the daughter of the murderer. I'm betting she's really the daughter of another royal bloodline

EDIT: I found the author's note that says this is actually 5 books. I am adjusting my rating accordingly.
I'm very confused. I was reading this on an app and finished the book. I bought it on Amazon cause I enjoyed it, only to find this is only about 1/2 the book. What gives? If this is where the book ends I'm forced to give it a lower rating than what it got from me when reading the longer version of the book.

So, this book came up in my facebook feed to read on one of those pay-per-chapter apps. Well, I am certainly not going to do that. Waste of time and money. I am also not going to pay for a book that has constantly tense switching, annoyingly edited out words (like I'm a fucking child?), and frankly a world that makes absolutely no goddamn sense. It's like reading shitty fanfiction from 2005. Which is why this is only 4 stars.

But how is it still that high of a rating? Coming from *me*, who loves nothing more than a good solid ripping apart of everything I read? Because this is the kind of trash I fucking love. I can tell the author had fun writing this and letting the story guide itself. Because it's *awful*, but I absolutely cannot put it down.

Apparently the app I'm reading this on conks out 1/2-3/4ths thru the 2nd book...but we'll see. Honestly, if the story itself was tightened up a bit, there is absolutely no reason this has to be over 800k words. There is a lot stupid fluff in here and Ivy/Azalea kind of annoys the shit out of me. I hate miscommunication and that is another reason for the loss of that one star.

Anyway, I'll keep reading these until I can't find it for free anymore...'cause, sorry Jessica, but I can't pay for this. Even if the kindle editions HAVE gone through some editing...it needs to be immaculate before I pay for it. If someone can confirm that the autocorrects of "lycan" to "lyric" are gone and the tenses have been polished (seriously, is it 1st person present, or 1st person past? Augh!!), then *maybe* I would throw down a few dollars for a cleaner read of it.

The two (current!) 1 star reviews are totally and 100% valid. This does NOT read like it was written by an "internationally best selling author", but I can see why should tout herself as such. The writing skill is not up to par with traditionally published books, at all. Shifter Fiction has it's fans, but it definitely is not Hight Literature. The complaints about being abuse porn, underage taboo, etc., are also 100% valid. I (personally!) can drop the expectations for legality toward underage sex and such, seeing as how this is not "our world", and these are Lycans and werewolves. Very different personal boundaries than humans. That is going to yuck a few folks, and this book could probably use a content warning.

I have faith that some day, this author will find her stride. Find a better editor (please, fer fuckssake, Jessica, *please* use some of your money to find a better editor), and maybe put out something that I describe as "trash". Even in a good way.

This book is one of the rare gems I found looking up a title suggested to me by Facebook app ad. I was on a roll reading expected trash novels you usually get from those ads as unexpectedly this book stood out and took me by surprise. It is a fully finished novel. The writing is really good and the whole plot line is well thought out and presented. It does have a few holes along the way that are so obvious to reader, yet characters can't see and it frustrated me at times. One of the huge reasons this book didn't get full 5 stars from me is that I absolutely abhorrent the main male lead. Author tried to paint him as authoritive and rightful, yet all I could think is how incredibly abusive he was, not much different from antagonists of the story. He did change towards the end, yet the change was way too swift. I honestly believe Ivy deserved so much better. The whole relationship between Ivy and Kyson was unhealthy, oppressive, abusive and something that should not be portrayed as normal. Kyson is rarely called out on his behaviour and even then it's just mild critique on the level he was misogynist or sexist. So, I had incredibly hard time with that relationship and to the end I wished Ivy would have let the bond to die and him with it. That is not something a reader should feel for the main romantic interest. The rest of the characters- oh my. Beautifully fleshed out, so different. Take Liam for example. Such a character! Amazing. The way author managed to endear that insane sadistic character to reader is unbelievable. It requires some serious writing skills and is a prime example how to weave a story.
So, after gushing over the book, it's obvious I liked it a lot. I recommend to read it, it's good.

Pot kettle black

This was an interesting story, it started out well, with two lost girls in need of saving, and in comes our hero. But have to say our hero was a bit pot kettle black for me. He was all up in arms about her being under age and how she was treated but for some reason he didn't think it applied to him, his sexual overtures to a girl who was as he stated under age might not have been the right thing as both girls had no idea how to deal with life, they didn't have a choice they were the lowest of the low it was so as your where told or die, but just when you thought that there was hope, well he did the one thing he said he would never do. All the hope he gave Ivy, was rip away and he did exactly what he punished others for only this time he destroyed her. No matter what happened you can't punish someone for the sins of others, I'm hoping that as we go on to the next book our lycan king will see just how wrong he was, hopefully before he loses Ivy forever.

Abuse Porn

The writing is decent, but this starts as abuse porn and can’t find its way out. The hero’s claim to nobility is that he doesn’t hold with executing children. He’s more than happy to kidnap one, force her into his room and his bed, and molest her while she is shaking in terror, unable to object because he is the King and has the power of life and death over her.
If you can make it through that, the Stockholm Syndrome ‘romance’ might appeal, but be ready to see the hapless Victim cast aside at the end of this volume. Maybe in a few volumes there is a happy ending where we can pretend this is okay?

I love this authors writing style. Highly recommend her books!!

Once I starting reading well I just could not put it down.

Kyson and Ivy story just draws you in with all the emotions these characters go through.
I was laughing , on the verge of tears angry and felt so sorry for both Kyson and Ivy, and well the sexy time!!
Kyson really need his arse kicked for sure.

Just started book 2 and oh my it's another hard one to put down. Really looking forward to to be able to buy the rest of the series once it becomes available on Kindle.

So I started this book thinking that it was a short story in instagram and I am no a fantasy girl AT ALL. I honestly went into this (what I thought was a short story) thinking it would be fun to cringe at it just bc I really dislike fantasy most of the time. However, I was completely sucked into this story and ended up reading all of Kyson and Azalea’s story on an app within 5 days …. Come to find out it’s FIVE BOOKS!?! Okay…. Not sure how I got through that so fast but I was literally obsessed with reading this.

Any book that keeps me reading until 430 am on a WORK NIGHT has certainly earned its five stars. I was absolutely sucked into Ivy and Abbie's story. The pacing clipped along quickly, characters were vivid, and the spice was definitely present. The story itself was more than I was expecting, and I'm looking forward to the other books in this series.

I recommend to those looking for a spicy paranormal/fantasy romance. It's light and engaging.

Heart stopping. Jessica Hall is an amazing writer.

I didn't read for 9 years when I stumbled on My Luna has a Son. I have read through all of her collections and so far this Lycan Luna Series is to par with all the rest. I love the detail of the characters and story lines. I love being the detective of who and why, she does a magnificent job with the dramatic turns her stories take. Recommend all Shifter Series.

I need the second one ASAP! I hate that i found this series so early. I'm sitting at work crying, heartbroken for Ivy, like what is happening. It took me less than 24 hours to read, I could not put it down. I've read multiple series of yours, but I was so lost in this one time that just flew. I hope you release the next book soon. I NEED to know how this all plays out.

Mind Blowing

Why? Because this is the first book I've read from beginning to end in one sitting. I actually felt the pain Ivy and Abbey experienced. And I laughed hysterically several times. Moved by his affection and patience. The sexual moments they shared. But the end was sudden and painful. I'm not even opening the next book until I get some sleep. Definitely a winner.

Great read. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Was a little upset with Ivy and how she kept fighting Kyson. It was a little annoying but honestly made it different from other books in the fact that it was not all lovey dovey even though at my core that is what I wanted. Lol read it in a couple of days and could not put it down.

decent story. crappy editing

I’ve read a couple of her books. This one is the worst in terms of grammar, punctuation, & editing. I found myself having to read sentences a few times because they made zero sense. Not sure if this book was written with AI. There are so many mistakes that makes it crazy to read n

When I first started reading again back in 2022 of late 2021 I found this series by Jessica Hall on a site. It's one of those sites where a chapter or two is uploaded weekly. I fell in loveeeeee with her stories! Now Book 1 and 2 are finally on Amazon so I immediately bought them on my Kindle ❤️

The book was nice. I liked the growth of Ivy. I'm not a total fan of Kyson's behavior, but the storyline had some nice plots and scenes.

However, it was not that good of a book. I wasn't always inclined to read further
